All migration agents need 10 points in the 12 months immediately before making an application for re-registration to MARA.

Requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as prescribed in the Migration Agents Regulations 1998 ("the Regulations").

CPD points are earned by successfully completing approved CPD activities as specified by the Migration Agents Registration Authority in a MARA Notice.

Our CPD activities are approved in the current MARA notice.

The MARA Notice of approved CPD Activities by type is available online by clicking here.

The new system for CPD Activities means that our programs have changed.

Your years of experience as a migration agent will depend on which level of CPD activity you are able to attend. MARA has provided you with a personalised ‘CPD Activity Eligibility Status’ card. This indicates which level/s of activity you are able to complete.

From the 1 July 2003 MARA introduced changes to CPD activities. Our programs have changed to meet the new requirements for providing CPD activities to migration agents. All activities are now at : Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3

Level 1 activities in our programs do not require any exam or assessment. These level 1 activities are worth 1 core point and all migration agents are able to attend level 1 activities.

Level 2 activities in our programs may require assessment at the end of the activity. The assessment is conducted by us. To participate in a level 2 activity you must have 2 or more years experience as a migration agent.
Or have completed 20 or more Level 1 activities
Or completed 20 or more approved CPD activities with an item number in the 1 to 99,000 series. Level 2 activities are worth 2 points

Level 3 activities in our programs will require assessment at the end of the activity. To participate in level 3 activities you must have 4 or more years experience as a migration agent.
Or completed 10 or more Level 2 activities
Or 60 or more Level 1 activities.
Or completed 60 or more approved CPD activities with an item number in the 1 to 99,000 activities. Level 3 activities are worth 3 points

Level 2 and 3 activities require formal and informal assessment, these assessments maybe short or they maybe multiple choice questions. The assessment will only be based on what we have covered in the activity. It will be quicker to gain your CPD points by attending higher levelled activities or activities with assessment.
